Mr. Chavers was a Florida native, born on April 14, 1934 in Cottage Hill, FL to the late Rev. Bruce and Gladys Chavers, the fifth of six children. He grew up on a dairy farm with his 3 brothers; Mallory, Melvin and Seaborn and his sister Elsie. Throughout his life he lived in New Mexico, California and Texas but always returned home to Florida. Mr. Chavers was a Florida native, born on April 14, 1934 in Cottage Hill, FL to the late Rev. Bruce and Gladys Chavers, the fifth of six children. He grew up on a dairy farm with his 3 brothers; Mallory, Melvin and Seaborn and his sister Elsie. Throughout his life he lived in New Mexico, California and Texas but always returned home to Florida. With honor and pride Mr. Chavers served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In addition to being a former Marine, he had several occupations, businesses and hobbies over the years. He was a control room operator for Big 3 Industrial Gas in Santa Susana, California; Houston, TX and Merritt Island, Florida. He Owned/operated two Texaco Service Stations; one on Fairfield Dr. in Pensacola and another on Hwy. 29 in Cantonment, FL. He was also a pilot, farmer, and an over the road truck driver. With God's guidance and love, Mr. Chavers traveled many miles struggling through life, helping everyone he could along the way, his eyes always on his heavenly home. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was devoted to his children, always loving his family without boundaries. He is survived by his three sons Jerome Mallory "Buck" Chavers of Pensacola, FL; Bruce (Tina) Chavers of Molino, FL and Bobby Chavers of Navarre, FL; two daughters Marcella Wayne of Cottage Hill, FL; and Mary Ann (Don) Lawson of Pensacola, FL; a sister Elsie Adams of Lake Brownwood, TX; a brother Seaborn (Gail) Chavers of McDavid, FL; an Aunt Gloria Etheridge Odom of Dalton, GA; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Bruce Carter Chavers and Gladys Lillian Etheridge Chavers; two brothers Mallory and Melvin Chavers; a sister Ethel Chavers; and two beloved grandsons Bryce and Christopher Chavers.
