Description	:	Raymond Eugene "Gene" Bourelle, son of Raymond and Violet (Nelson) Bourelle, was born January 31, 1938, at Walthill, Nebraska. Gene died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Nebraska. Gene spent his early years on the family farm near Rosalie, Nebraska, and then moved with his family to a farm west of Lyons, Nebraska, in 1952. Read More	Raymond Eugene "Gene" Bourelle, son of Raymond and Violet (Nelson) Bourelle, was born January 31, 1938, at Walthill, Nebraska. Gene died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Nebraska. Gene spent his early years on the family farm near Rosalie, Nebraska, and then moved with his family to a farm west of Lyons, Nebraska, in 1952. In 1954, the Bourelle family moved into Lyons, Nebraska where Gene attended and graduated from Lyons (NE.) High School with the Class of 1955. Upon graduation from high school, Gene then attended college at UST in Kansas City, Missouri, then went to work in Omaha, Nebraska for two years, before returning to his hometown of Lyons, Nebraska where he accepted a job with the Chevrolet dealer in nearby Oakland, Nebraska. On September 4, 1966, Gene was married to Shirley Ann Lagge at Lyons, Nebraska. The young couple lived in Oakland, Nebraska where their sons, Mike and Roury, were born. In 1975, Gene and Shirley moved their family to Norfolk, Nebraska, where Gene had accepted a position as an instructor in the Automotive Department for Northeast Community College, Norfolk, Nebraska. It was during their early years in Norfolk that Gene and Shirley's youngest son, Daniel, was born. After eight years as an instructor, Gene became the Dean of the Transportation/Construction Division of Northeast Community College, Norfolk, Nebraska; a post he would hold for the next 26 years, until retiring in 2001. Gene was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Norfolk, Nebraska. He was involved with several organizations, including the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the Norfolk Country Club. Gene's life and memory are forever remembered by: sons, Michael Ray "Mike" Bourelle of Norfolk, Nebraska, Roury Eugene Bourelle and Daniel Lee "Dan" Bourelle, both of Wilmington, North Carolina; four grandchildren; sister, Wanda (Henry) Henkel of Gering, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Deborah Bourelle of Rocky Ford, Colorado and a host of family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by: wife, Shirley Ann Bourelle, in 1987; parents; brother, Melvin Bourelle and niece, Rochelle Bourelle. Graveside services were at the Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Nebraska.
