Read More	Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska Accidental Gunshot Kills Raymond Karre Raymond E. Karre, 57, was found dead of an accidental gunshot would last Wednesday morning on his ranch near Burwell. Terrell Sanders, rural mail carrier discovered the victim entangled on a fence about 11 a.m., April 8. A stack of hay Karre had been loading was standing nearby and a .22 caliber rifle was found on the opposite side of the fence as Karre's body. It is believed he was probably after a coyote and was attempting to cross the fence when the gun discharged the bullet entering his temple and leaving the back of his head. Garfield County Sheriff Mark Locker, County Attorney Keith Kovanda and Dr. Ben Meckel investigate the accident. They ruled the death accidental after finding the victim wearing heavy mittens that would have made it nearly impossible for him to discharge the gun himself. The victim had been dead several hours, the doctor thought. Karre is an uncle of Dr. Dale Karre, Ord veterinarian and mayor. Raymond E. Karre was born Dec. 28, 1906, at McCool Junction, the son of Henry and Margaret Waldrecht Karre. The Karre family came to Greeley County when Raymond was a year old, settling near Horace. He married Mildred Crites at Central City on Nov. 3, 1935. They lived near Horace and then moved to the ranch north of Burwell where they have resided for the past 15 years. Survivors are his wife and three brothers; Horace of Scotia, Howard of Greeley, Colo., and Richard of Friendship, Wis. He was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, his parents and two brothers. The funeral was Friday afternoon at the Scotia Methodist Church. Reverend Stanley Ganzel officiated and Mrs. Ganzel was soloist. Interment was in the Central City Cemetery with Hastings-Pearson in charge of arrangements. Contributor: Kathy Burgess Burr (47226369)
