Read More	Raymond Hatcher Evans, 95, of Crozet, Virginia, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born in Campbell County, Virginia, on October 20, 1917, he was the son of Daniel Smith Evans and Bessie Elmer Watkins. He moved to Lynchburg at the age of two, and lived most of his life there. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army in World War II. While living in Lynchburg, he was an active member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was a professional dry cleaner and owner of Hughes Dry Cleaners. After his retirement from dry cleaning, he worked for several years for Miller Built engine repair in Lynchburg. He moved to Crozet in 1996, where he became an active and involved member of the Crozet United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marie Pennington Evans of Lynchburg, in 1986. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Dorothy Marshall Evans of Crozet. He is survived by his children, Dr. William S. Evans and his wife, Annette, of Crozet, and Janet Evans Sturtevant and her husband, Richard, of Free Union. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Emma Kathryn Evans, Tessa Annette Evans, and John Grayson Evans, Julia Sturtevant Donlon, and Will Parker Sturtevant; and one great-grandchild, Jameson Parker Donlon. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends, will never forget his gentle nature and extraordinary generosity with his time and talents. His most notable trait, however, was his unwavering faith in God and passionate love for his family. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Crozet United Methodist Church by the Reverend Doug Forrester. The burial will be at Fort Hill Memorial Cemetery in Lynchburg, 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013. For those wishing to make memorials, please consider one of the area's Food Banks, the Crozet United Methodist Church, or the SPCA. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
