Arrangements under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home, Burke. He was born on March 22, 1933, at Naper to Leo and Elizabeth (Halbur) Blum. He lived all his life around the Naper area and attended the Naper Public School. Raymond was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 8, 1953, and served at Fort Chaffe, Ark., Camp Carson, Colo., and served in Germany for 14 months. He was discharged on April 20, 1955. On Oct. 15, 1953, he married Velva June Vogt. He began working for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads following his discharge. In the fall of 1955, they moved to a farm south of Naper. Raymond and Velva farmed there for 33 years, retiring in 1987 and moved into Naper. He served as chairman of the township board for 12 years, during which he ran the maintenance for the township. He then ran the maintenance for the county until spring of 2008. He was a life member of Naper VFW Post No. 8256. He also served as janitor for Naper Auditorium and VFW for several years. Survived by his wife, his children: Wanda Linnaus and husband David, Oakdale, Neb.; Kevin and Rogena, Norfolk, Neb.; Lori Vanden Bos and husband Dan, Gregory; and Randy, Seattle; 16 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Melvin and wife Sylvia, O'Neill, Neb.; and Gerald and wife Shirley, Halbur, Iowa; a sister, Joyce Mohling and husband Craig, Hastings, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by a son, Delmar; and his parents.
