He was born January 14, 1919 at Beaver Crossing, NE to August and Lena (Wefer) Wiese. Raymond married Bernice Otto Schwenck on January 3, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ithaca, NE. He was a farmer and also worked as a carpenter for the University of Nebraska near Mead. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1939 and was put into active duty on December 23, 1941. Wiese, age 88 of Wahoo, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo. He was born January 14, 1919 at Beaver Crossing, NE to August and Lena (Wefer) Wiese. Raymond married Bernice Otto Schwenck on January 3, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church at Ithaca, NE. He was a farmer and also worked as a carpenter for the University of Nebraska near Mead. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1939 and was put into active duty on December 23, 1941. Ray served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and was honorably discharged on October 17, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, KS, with the rank of Sergeant. Ray was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo, a life member of American Legion Post #49 at Utica, NE, and a life member of V.F.W. Post #1609 at York, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Nolie and Lauren, sisters Laura Dinkelman and Edna Stuhr. Ray is survived by his wife Bernice of Wahoo; daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Jim Johnson of Ceresco, Voncele and Norman Klassen of Bingham Lake, MN; son Gayle Schwenck of Wahoo; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Reimer officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 2 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6until 8 p.m. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors conducted by Wahoo American Legion Post #82, and Wahoo V.F.W. Post #4502. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
