Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Victor. Pallbearers will be Mark Dellamuth, Ronald Faas, David Merck and Robert Herdlicka, all of Cedar Rapids; Duane Faas, Ames, and Kevin Wardenburg, Williamsburg, all nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Bauman, Grinnell; John Merck and Maynard Merck, both Cedar Rapids; Donald Ray Faas, Indiana, and Brian Wardenburg, Eric Wardenburg and Kenneth Plotz, all Williamsburg. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Harold E. Smith Post 54, Victor American Legion. The son of Theodore and Pearl Walton Shine, Raymond John Shine was born May 9, 1928, on the family farm south of Victor in Lincoln township, Iowa County. He attended rural schools and Victor High School. He served in the Fifth Calvary of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Shine married Elda Wardenburg Sept. 3, 1950, at Williamsburg. The couple farmed south of Victor until 1975 when they moved to Victor. During the last several years, Shine enjoyed woodworking and had exhibited his work at several woodworking shows. He is survived by his wife, Elda; three daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Terry) Wilcox, Victor; Judy (Mrs. Lyle) Behounek, Holiday Lake, and Diane (Mrs. Jeff) Trask, Atkins; two grandsons, Joseph Bryan and Joshua Ryan Wilcox, and two sisters, Opal Faas, Cedar Rapids, and Betty Thede, Belle Plaine. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Shine, and one sister, Marie Merck.
