Read More	Raymond "Bud" Joseph Kalinay, of rural Chelsea, IA, son of Louis and Lucille Plesek Kalinay, was born August 31, 1929, near Chelsea, IA and died Sunday, October 20, 1996, in University Hospital, Iowa City, IA. Bud received his education in St. Joseph's School, Chelsea, and Chelsea Public School graduating in 1946. Bud served as a Corporal with the US Marines during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a supervisor with Donaldson Co. of Grinnell for 30 years retiring in 1985. On February 6, 1951, he was married to Elsie C. DeRycke in St. Patrick's Church, Brooklyn, IA. Since 1954 they have lived at their present home. Bud was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, and Jennings Bradshaw American legion Post #39 of Belle Plaine, IA. Bud enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, boating, gardening and wood working. Surviving are his wife, Elsie; three sons, Robert of Chelsea, IA, Ronald of Kansas City, MO, and James of Tama, IA; one daughter, Diane, Mrs. Harry Kilmer Jr. of Brooklyn; one brother, Roger Kalinay of Pierre, SD; three sisters, Evelyn Ryan of Chelsea, Florence Balvin of Chelsea, and Veronica Brush of Quincy, IL; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence. A Wake Service was held at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, October 22, 1996, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 23, 1996, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, IA. Rev. Michael J. Rogers officiated. The organist and soloist was Angie Hawkins. Selections were "On Eagles Wings" and "How Great Thou Art" and Vince Gill's "Go Rest High on That Mountain". Flower Attendants were Barbara Murty and Marion Daily. Honorary Casket-Bearers were Dick Kolash, Paul "Andy" Suchanek, Dean Suchanek, Donald Behounek, Ernie Podhajsky and Joe Plesek. Casket-bearers were Robert Kalinay, Craig Kalinay, Jon Kalinay, Lee Kalinay, Joe Balvin, and Jeremy Holland. Military Rites were conducted by members of Jennings Bradshaw American Legion Post #39 with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, IA.
