Description	:	On the 14th of May, 1881, the oldest child, Raymond J., came gladden the home of J. S. and Lillie May Whitmer. He was born in Shelby county, Ohio, where he spent his boyhood days. In March 1902, his parents with their family moved to Beaverton, Michigan. He went to Kent county in 1903, where he worked at the carpenter trade. He was born in Shelby county, Ohio, where he spent his boyhood days. In March 1902, his parents with their family moved to Beaverton, Michigan. He went to Kent county in 1903, where he worked at the carpenter trade. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Weaver in 1906. They set up their home near Elmdale, Kent county, Michigan, where they resided for nine years. Into this home were born two children, Mae and Wilbur. In 1916 Ray with his family moved to their country home three miles east of Beaverton, where he has since resided. At the age of 51 years, 8 months and 4 days his early labors were completed. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife; two children, Mae Elizabeth and Wilbur Raymond; his father, Joshua S. Whitmer, of Beaverton; two brothers, Edgar and John of Midland; and two sisters, Ethel of Beaverton and Martha Farrell of Woodland; besides other relatives and a host of friends. At the age of 14 he made the great choice of accepting Jesus as his Savior. Although he was in the prime of life and had prospective years before him, the all-wise Father said: "It is enough; you have played your part in the drama of life; come home". He was a kind and loving companion, a patient and youthful father and a careful and frank advisor; to know him was to love him. One less at home! The charmed circle broken; a dear face. Missed day by day from its accustomed place; But, cleansed and saved and perfected by grace, One more in Heaven! One more in Heaven! Another thought to brighten cloudy days; Another theme for thankfulness and praise; Another link on high our souls to raise, To home and Heaven.
