He was born Feb. 12, 1911, near Mechanicsville, moving to Linn county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Archibald of Whittier. He graduated from the Viola high school in 1929, and in 1932 was married to Ruby McGowan of Marion, who, with a small son, Raymond, jr., survives his untimely death. He also leaves a brother, Edmund, and sisters, Helen and Patsy at home with his parents. The deceased was a steady, reliable, well-liked young man, whose death brings sympathy to his mourning family from a wide circle of friends. Funeral services are being held this afternoon from the Yocom chapel, with Rev. Mark Shockey, former pastor of the local Free Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in Oak Shade. County Attorney To Investigate Archibald Death: Someone may have to pay dearly for the death of Ray Archibald, of Marion, if County Attorney King Thompson, finds any criminal liability in the alleged practical joke for which his life was forfeited. The county attorney is investigating the case. Archibald died Monday in a Cedar Rapids hospital after having been injured at the Cedar Rapids plant where he was employed.
