Description	:	Funeral services for Ray Van Metre, 79, State Center were held Monday at the United Methodist Church here with the Rev Charles Mehaffey officiating. Burial was in Clemons cemetery. Mr Van Metre a life long Marshall county resident, died Friday afternoon, June 20 in the Marshall County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mr Van Metre was born September 8, 1889 in Clemons, a son of Fred and Mary Teager Van Metre. He received his education in rural schools in the area. Surviving are his widow, two sons, Wayne F of Omaha, Nebraska and Boyd R of State Center, one daughter, Mrs Robert (Mary Catherine) Gehring of Clarion; two brothers, E T Van Metre of Clemons and W D Van Metre of Green Lake, Wisconsin; a sisters, Mrs B A (Matie Belle) Smith of Clemons and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter in infancy and a brother. June 26, 1969 State Center Enterprise.
