Description	:	Raymond is the youngest child of Peter N. Schaul and Mary Blatt Schaul. On the night of October 14, 1934 he was involved in a serious automobile accident on Highway 34, one mile east of Junius, South Dakota, and died on October 20th in the Madison hospital. His car was reportedly pushed off the highway and rolled ("His car, a light coupe, hooked the corner of a truck"). Read More	Raymond is the youngest child of Peter N. Schaul and Mary Blatt Schaul. On the night of October 14, 1934 he was involved in a serious automobile accident on Highway 34, one mile east of Junius, South Dakota, and died on October 20th in the Madison hospital. His car was reportedly pushed off the highway and rolled ("His car, a light coupe, hooked the corner of a truck"). The other vehicle may have been driven by a rival bootlegging gang; Raymond was transporting a load of alcohol contained in metal cans (his nephew Bob Hammond, 13 at the time, saw the tins loaded from the granary at the Hammond-Schaul farm in Green Valley Township ofMiner County); the cans were gone by the time officials arrived at the accident site. Raymond's obituary from the Miner County Pioneer: "Raymond M. Schaul was born October 18, 1904 at Roswell, S. D., and passed away October 20, 1931, at the Madison hospital, at the age of 27 years, and 2 days. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaul, two sisters, Sophie and Mrs. J. W. Hammond, and one brother, John, one nephew Robert Hammond and four nieces, Irma Dee, Imelda, Alice Mae and Imogene Schaul. On October 14, he was injured in an automobile accident near Madison which caused his death. Funeral services were held from St. Nichalos Catholic church Thursday at 10 a. am., Rev. Father Luig officiating, and was buried in the Catholic cemetery at Roswell. The pall bearers were Fran and Otto Miller, F. T. Miller, Chas. Fickes, George Burkhart and Joe Burke. Relatives from a distance present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schaul and son Victor, and Mrs. Ernest Gabiel of Luxemburg, Iowa, John Schaul of Dubuque, Iowa, Nicholas Schaul and Mrs. Peter Lucas and son Clarence of Holy Cross, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Blatt and son Joseph, of Granville, Iowa, Mrs. Henry Stoffel and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Graff and family of Salem, S. D."
