Description	:	Raymond "Ray" Schultz, age 86, of Madison, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 12th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Constanze Hagmaier officiating. Visitation will be 3-7 PM on Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with family present from 5-7 PM followed by a prayer service at 7 PM. Raymond Milo Schultz was born May 18, 1930 in Avon, SD, the son of Fred & Ruth (Lidtke) Schultz. Ray graduated from Avon High School in 1948. He moved to Howard, SD after graduation. He married Marlys Rozella Bargmann in Madison, SD in 1950 where they currently reside. He then began working in the seed industry in Madison, SD. In the late 1950's he established Schultz Seed Company and in 1963 he purchased Domestic Seed and Supply Inc. and developed the Mustang Seed Brand. Mustang Seeds Inc. is still owned and operated by the Schultz Family in Madison, SD. Ray was very active in many seed industry associations. He was past president of Northern Seed Trade Association and South Dakota Crop Improvement Association. Ray was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison Golf and Country Club and the Elks Club Lodge. He liked to stay active in many community projects including the Ray Schultz "Field of Dreams", Madison Regional Hospital Project, and the Madison Golf Course addition. Ray was also instrumental in keeping railroad service to Madison, SD in the 1970's as he knew this was vitally important to local agriculture. Ray loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing cards with family and friends. His family was very important to him. He is survived by wife, Marlys; brother, Dennis Schultz of Henderson, NV; five children, Greg (Karen) Schultz of Sioux Falls, SD, Tim Schultz of Madison, SD, Cindy (Steve) Becker of Humboldt, SD, Karen (Jay) Anderson of Avon, IN and Terry (Lori) Schultz of Madison, SD; ten grandchildren include Maren (Nick) Scheiner of Palo Alto, CA, Peter (Rachel) Schultz of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristen Schultz of Minneapolis, MN, Christina Becker of Humboldt, SD, Rob Becker of Sioux Falls, SD, Leigh Anderson, Katlyn Anderson and Madison Anderson all of Avon, IN, and Makena & Mallorie Schultz both of Madison, SD; one great-grandson, Milo Scheiner of Palo Alto, CA and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer Schultz; sister, Delores Moschell and a nephew, Jimmy Moschell. - Weiland Funeral Chapel
