Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in St. Edward, NE, with Rev. Vern Olson officiating. Raymond Mors Afrank, Sr., son of Christ and Johanna Sena (Ter Mors) Afrank, was born August 19, 1927 at Cedar Rapids, NE. Raymond attended Boone County School District 9 until the 10th grade and graduated from Albion High School in 1945. Raymond entered the US Army on January 20, 1952 and served as a tank instructor until he was honorably discharged on February 1, 1954. He was baptized August 12, 1973 at First Baptist Church Albion. On December 27, 1955 Raymond was united in marriage to Sharlene Berlin at Palestine Baptist Church, rural Lindsay. The couple lived on a farm by Cedar Rapids until 1985 when they moved to Albion. To this union four children were born: Sharmond, Raymond Jr., Morsena, and Chrystal. Raymond worked as a farmer and in commercial fertilizing as well as at Gro Mor at Genoa, Felco Coop at Albion, IMC Rainbow at Cedar Rapids and for Bill Schriver at Albion for over 20 years. Raymond is a member of United Methodist Church in St. Edward and the Dan Cox American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids, NE. He enjoyed his family and was very proud of each and every one of them, his famous quote with his family was “and we started all of this!” Raymond collected John Deere tractors and various caps, and he enjoyed sitting on his front porch in Albion watching the cars go by. Raymond is survived by his wife, Sharlene of Genoa, NE; four children: Sharmond (David) Loeffler of Wood River, NE, Raymond Jr (Sheila) of Meadow Grove, NE, Morsena (Randy) Prososki of Genoa, NE, Chrystal (Glen) Tharnish of St. Edward, NE; 16 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marilyn Afrank of St. Edward, NE, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant child, grandsons Tanner Afrank and Zachary Tharnish; 3 brothers: Henry, Victor and Milford; 2 sisters: Dena Johnson and Christina Gray.
