Description	:	Raymond O. Bonser, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died at the Henry County Health Center. He was born to Howard L. and Lavina S. Weigert Bonser. On January 2, 1934, he married Hazel L. Cochenour in Kahoka, Missouri. She died on January 28, 1970. Prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked in Hoaglin's store in Mount Pleasant. He bought the Mount Pleasant Cabins and rebuilt them into the Starlite Motel, which is still operating. He then began constructing new homes and apartments in Mount Pleasant. He went to work in the union and was involved in setting... Read More	Raymond O. Bonser, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died at the Henry County Health Center. He was born to Howard L. and Lavina S. Weigert Bonser. On January 2, 1934, he married Hazel L. Cochenour in Kahoka, Missouri. She died on January 28, 1970. Prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked in Hoaglin's store in Mount Pleasant. He bought the Mount Pleasant Cabins and rebuilt them into the Starlite Motel, which is still operating. He then began constructing new homes and apartments in Mount Pleasant. He went to work in the union and was involved in setting up equipment for many of the factories that came to southeastern Iowa. He was a member of the Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club and a 60 year member of the American Legion. He rebuilt a 1928 Nash. He enjoyed building furniture, including rolltop desks, grandfather clocks, and rocking chairs for his children and grandchildren. Survivors include sons, Raymond O. Bonser Jr. of Alta Loma, California, Jerry D. Bonser of Agency, and Rick L. Bonser of Mount Pleasant; brother, Wayne E. Bonser of Oceanside, California; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, one sister, and a great-grandson. The funeral service was held at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Van Hooser officiating.
