Description	:	Raymond Osgood Robinson, 91, passed away quietly March 3rd at Quarry Hill in Camden. He was born November 2, 1921 in Thomaston to Bernard A. and Dora Hastings Robinson the second of two sons. He attended schools in Thomaston and graduated from Thomaston High School in the class of 1940. He starting working at Snows Shipyard in Rockland. Like many young men, Raymond answered the "The Call" and enlisted in the Army where he joined many other men in training at Camp Edward in Massachusetts. He was shipped to France where he was attached to a medical unit and he spent one... Read More	Raymond Osgood Robinson, 91, passed away quietly March 3rd at Quarry Hill in Camden. He was born November 2, 1921 in Thomaston to Bernard A. and Dora Hastings Robinson the second of two sons. He attended schools in Thomaston and graduated from Thomaston High School in the class of 1940. He starting working at Snows Shipyard in Rockland. Like many young men, Raymond answered the "The Call" and enlisted in the Army where he joined many other men in training at Camp Edward in Massachusetts. He was shipped to France where he was attached to a medical unit and he spent one and a half years in Nice. He was employed by Cushman's Bakery, Clark Beverages and finally as a salesman for Morris Gordon & Son Welding Supply in Rockland. He married Gwendolyn Barlow Upham on November 17, 1973 and always maintained "it was the best thing I ever did." Raymond was a life member of Williams-Brazier American Legion Post #37 in Thomaston. He was also a devoted and active member of Orient Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Thomaston and Major Gen. Henry Knox Lodge in Boston. He received his 50 year Veterans Medal in July 1996. He will be fondly remembered as a warm and merry "Santa Claus." A role he assumed for many years with his wife Gwen, visiting nursing homes, children's services and the Christmas lighting ceremonies in Thomaston. He was predeceased by his wife, Gwen; son, Robby and his elder brother, William and his wife Alice. He is survived by his step-son, John W. Upham and his wife Lee-Ann of Thomaston Sister-in-laws, Louise Kelley of Bernard Ruth Stevens of Rockland Many cousins A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. May 3rd at the Village Cemetery in Thomaston. Contributions in Raymond's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Knox County,P.O. Box 1294, Rockland 04841.
