It was Mr. Terrill, of New Providence, the father-in-law, who went. The young man died and his remains were brought Monday to New Providence, where the funeral was held Wednesday. The interment was in the Union cemetery, where his mother is buried. President Edwards, of Penn College, Mr. Glenney's alma mater, had charge of the funeral service. Ray Glenney was born and reared about two miles southwest of Union and although not very strong, he had graduated from the New Providence academy and from Penn college and then had gone to Hartford to take special training which would fit him for the ministerial work which he had set out to do. He was an earnest, consecrated young man, but his labors here are over and God, the Father, will see to the reward. The sympathy of the people here who know the history of this young life and its ambition goes out to the young wife who is left with only the memory of what might have been if strength of body could have kept with the longings of the soul. __________________ Eldora Herald, p 1, May 21 1914, Eldora Iowa: RAY P. GLENNEY. Brief Account of Life of Resident of Union Township. The funeral of Ray P. Glenney was held at the New Providence Friend's Church, Wednesday afternoon, May 13th, interment in the Union Cemetery. Ray P. Glenney, son of Wm. G. and Emma Glenney was born near Union, Iowa, on May 28th 1888, and died at Hartford, Connecticut, on May 9th, 1914, aged 25 years, 11 months, and 12 days. He leaves a wife, a father, one sister, and two brothers, his mother having died when he was eleven years of age. He was converted at the age of fifteen and soon afterwards joined the Friends Church from which time he was deeply interested in Christian work.He graduated from the New Providence Academy in 1908, from Penn. College in 1913 and was married to Esther Terrill in September, 1913. They went immediately to Hartford Connecticut where he entered the Theological Seminary. He was recorded as a minister in 1910 by the New Providence Monthly Meeting. His work had been in Louisiana, and in Iowa, Nebraska, and New England Yearly Meetings of Friends. It is not too much to say of Ray Glenney that altho his life on earth seemed short it had an influence for good over many, that it was spent in doing the things most worthwhile and in preparation for what he believed to be his calling.
