He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. He married Irene Lauer on June 1, 1938 at Gothenburg. They farmed until retiring in 1978. Raymond was a member of American Lutheran Church and was a member of American Lutheran Church and also actively participated at the Faith Chapel in Gothenburg. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends through the years. Survivors include four sons, Romaine Lee (Pat) Janssen of McCook, Ron (Sandy) Janssen of Kearney, Verlin (Charolett) Janssen of Gothenburg and Allen (Sylvia) Janssen of Germany; two daughters, Marlys (Maurice) Benitah of LaJolla, California and Deborah (Kent) Tyrrell, Phoenix, Arizona; a special friend, Zella Mae Sanders of Gothenburg; 14 grandchildren and a brother, Wayne (Eileen) Janssen of Gothenburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Janssen on January 5, 2001, his parents, a sister, Hazel. Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church or the donor's choice. Funeral Services will be given 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with the Reverend Steve Berke and Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Burial is in the American Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. Monday and Tuesday at Blase Memorial Chapel. -Newspaper clipping in possession of his daughter, Marlys Benitah.
