No one was with Raymond when he fell but playmates saw him playing at a nearby service station about ten minutes to six. He was found about 6:20 by Ronnie Falk, 11 and Craig Nichols, 8, when they went to play there. Though an ambulance was called by a lady of the neighborhood, when the youngsters notified her of the accident, Raymond died while in the emergency room at St. Joseph hospital. A few years ago the north side of the almost solid sandstone hill was cut perpendicular so as to permit the erection of a building on the corner. The boy was found between the hill and the building. Officers investigating the accident reported that a small limb had been broken from a bush near the top of the hill, evidently the little fellow had attempted to avoid the fall which was about thirty feet. Many youngsters go to Jail Hill to play and a fence had been build around the edge as a danger warning. This hill, at the corner of Ninth and Lincoln acquired its name from the fact that for many years the county jail was located atop it. Since the construction of the new jail in the courthouse block, the building had been converted into apartments. Raymond Raphael Blochlinger was born June 7, 1948 in Concordia, and was a student in the fifth grade of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. Survivors are his parents; four brothers and sisters; John E., a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif; Mary Louise, Joanne Marie and Francis Eugene all of the home and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Feasel of Concordia. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Monday morning and interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Salina Journal - April 3 1959 CONCORDIA, Kan. A 10-year-old boy was killed last night in a fall off a 30-foot cliff. He was Raymond Blochlinger, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blochlinger. They have four other children. Concordia Policeman Carl Clintsman said the youth was playing on a hill, called the Old Jail Hill, at 9th and Lincoln in Concordia. He apparently slipped on some rock, and fell off a sheer cliff, landing on rocks below. Clintsman said the youth fell in a six-foot clearance between the cliff and a building, and was apparently playing alone. He was found by two other boys passing by, and taken to St. Joseph's hospital where he died a few minutes later.
