My research found no information on Ray's childhood or schooling. "Vernie" (Faist) Faist on Monday August 5, 1918 on a rural North Bend, Dodge County Nebraska farm where he continued to live throughout his lifetime. My research found no information on Ray's childhood or schooling. Ray was united in marriage to Fern Kiser on Sunday November 5, 1939 at North Bend, they were blessed over the years of marriage with two children, a son and daughter. Ray and Fern raised their family in a farmhouse with the GPS satellite coordinates of 41.554302, -96.735501, there were two houses on the farm site, their home has since been removed. The address now is 982 County Rd N which is just west of the corner of 10 and County Rd N. Ray employed me as a hired hand in the early sixties. I recall one time when he cut a hole in the side of a hog house he purchased from another neighbor, he backed his truck under the building and jack the hog house to rest on his truck, we then moved the building down the country road to his farm site. Ray let me use his Oliver 1800 tractor and four bottom plow to get my farm work done in half the time so I could do more work for him. One other time he lent me his mounted corn picker on his John Deere 530 to pick my corn down rows. Ray also had a John Deere H to run his farm elevator, that tractor would be a classic today. Ray was a great man! Ray was a member of First Methodist Church at North Bend where he served on the administrative council. Sadly Ray passed on Monday January 22, 1990 at St. Joseph's Hospital at Omaha, Douglas County at the age of 71 years, 5 months, 17 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 26,103 days. Ray's visitation was held on Wednesday January 24, 1990 at 2p at the Moser Memorial Chapel of North Bend. Ray's funeral service was held on Thursday January 25, 1990 at 2p at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Hiram Lilley officiating. Ray was interred in section a, lot 140, grave 3 of the Fremont's Memorial Cemetery. Ray's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Ray by a family friend Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed.
