Rudolph was born June 16, 1924 to the late Raymond and Mabel Gann Joyce. He was an active member of Mayodan Moravian Church serving on the Elders and Trustees, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and Men’s Chorus, and playing saxophone in the church band. Rudolph was a World War II veteran. He was involved in the Normandy France invasion and was one of the first to land on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Rudolph was a member of the Combat Airmen Joshua Troop. He and Betty owned “Rudolph’s Jewelry Company” for 40 years until retirement in 1989. Mr. Joyce leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 72 years, Betty Wilson Joyce; daughter, Jann Joyce Streeter; grandsons, Mason Robert Withers, Staff Sergeant Maxton Rudolph Withers and wife, Staff Sergeant Melissa Oro Withers; step great grandson, Mando Rodriquez of Newport News, VA.; two sisters, Phyllis Joyce Joyce and Elizabeth Joyce Haines of Mayodan, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mildred Joyce Gann. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Madison, NC. Memorials may be made to Mayodan Moravian Facility Maintenance Fund, Mayodan Moravian Church, P.O. Box 245, Mayodan, NC 27027. Online condolences may be sent to www.rayfuneralhome.com.
