Description	:	Raymond W. Hogan, 91, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, surrounded by his family at a Sioux City hospital, after a short illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dave Denzer officiating. Graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Raymond was born July 17, 1919, in Wayne, Neb., the son of James and Cora (Mace) Hogan. He grew up in the Wayne (Neb.) area. He was in the Civil Conservation Corps in Blair, Neb., after his father passed away. Ray later moved to Sioux City, where he met his future wife. He married Vivian "Pete" Suggitt on Nov. 3, 1939, in Sioux City. She died in 1993 in Sioux City. Ray married Berniece (Echtenkamp) Meyer on July 25, 1998, in Wakefield, Neb. Ray began his carpenter apprenticeship in 1941 in Omaha, Neb., working for Peter Kiewit Construction Co. He began serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II in May of 1944. Following the service, he returned to Sioux City, and began working for W.A. Klinger Construction Co., where he worked for 36 years, retiring in 1982. Ray was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in South Sioux City. He was also a member of the Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Club. Survivors include his wife, Berniece of Sioux City; his children, Ron Hogan and his wife, Sherry of Sioux City, Denny Hogan and his wife, Karen of Sioux City, Judy Call and her husband, Garry of Angola, Inc., Donald Meyer and his wife, Linda of Quimby, Iowa, Glendon Meyer and his wife, Lorie of Pender, Neb., and Kathleen Baker and her husband, Dale of Lincoln, Neb.; DeLloyd E. Meyer, Jr. and his wife Diana of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Paula Hogan of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Josephine Hogan of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Arley Suggitt of Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Denny Hogan in 1990; his wife, "Pete" in 1993; a son, Harry, who died in 2007; four brothers; and three sisters. Memorials may be made in his name to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, 230 Nebraska Street, Sioux City, IA 51101 or the maintenance of Morningside Lutheran Church, 700 So. Martha St., Sioux City, IA 51106.
