Nuss, Sr. and Betty June (Sheeler) Nuss. Wally graduated from Hoisington High School in 1961 and then attended Fort Hays State University. Read More	Raymond W. “Wally” Nuss, Jr., 74, died December 17, 2017, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born November 20, 1943, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Raymond W. Nuss, Sr. and Betty June (Sheeler) Nuss. Wally graduated from Hoisington High School in 1961 and then attended Fort Hays State University. Wally served in the United States Navy, completing his basic training in San Diego, then being stationed in Kingsville, Texas, and Midway Island. He obtained the rank of AMH-2, after serving from January 1966 to October 1969. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, Wally served as a long time bank officer, retiring from Landmark National Bank, Hoisington, after over 30 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 286, currently attended Hoisington United Methodist Church, and was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Volunteer Fire Department, all of Hoisington. Wally was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, marksman, cook, and gardener. Above all, his true love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren, rarely missing an event. He married Shirley Akings August 18, 1963, in Galatia. They were later divorced. On May 25, 1985, he married LeAnn Bailey in Hoisington, Kansas. She survives. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, LeAnn Nuss of the home; son, Chris Nuss and fiancé Dana VanBrimmer of Olathe; daughter, Shelly Schneider and husband Keith of Olmitz; step son, Aaron Warrick and wife Natalie of Larned; step daughter, Tisha Armatys of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Patsy Aylward and husband James of Goddard; and 8 grandchildren, Alaina and Suzanna Schneider, Gabe and Nick Warrick, Peyton and Dylan Armatys, Elli and Trae VanBrimmer. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond W. Nuss, Sr. and Betty Nuss Schneider. Memorial service will be 10:30 am Thursday Dec 21, 2017, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Reuben Lang’at presiding. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids or the Hoisington Volunteer Fire Department, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
