Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Sun., Mar. 16 at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern, with graveside services immediately following at Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, IA. Mr. Winslow was born in Walnut, Ia., and had lived in Des Moines eight years before moving to Malvern. He is survived by two daughters, Janelle McGuire and Marge Peskie; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Raymond Winslow, Sr. one of three sons of Herbert Edward and Estella Ann (Farmer) Winslow, was born in Iowa on May 30, 1911. The family lived near Ida Grove, Iowa where Raymond graduated from high school. Raymond worked in the area as a farm and construction laborer. Raymond and Marcella McHugh of Missouri Valley, Iowa were married in 1936. They were blessed with seven children, Marjorie, twins(?) Richard and Raymond, Jr., Estelle Ann, Vera, Janelle, and Marie. The family continued to live in the Missouri Valley area until Marcella and Marie tragically died in 1953. Unable to care for his children, Raymond arranged for them to live with relatives and Marjorie and Janelle were each adopted by a loving family. In 1954, Raymond moved to Oregon where he followed construction jobs and would not see his children for the next 22 years. Raymond returned to Iowa in 1976 and was reunited with his children. He lived in Des Moines nine years and eventually made his home on a farm near Tabor, Iowa. In 1988, Raymond moved to the Malvern Village and when his health failed in 1989, he lived with his daughter Ann in Malvern. On January 9, 1992, Raymond moved to the Manor of Malvern where he continued to live until his death. Raymond died at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 14, 2003. He had attained the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 14 days. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marcella; daughters Marie, Vera, and Estelle Ann Ewalt; sons Richard Winslow and Raymond Winslow, Jr.; brothers Herb Winslow and Randall Winslow. He is survived by his children, Marge Peskie of Omaha, NE and Janelle McGuier of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Kelly Stone of Moline, IL, Dawn Bohrer of Malvern, IA and Dennis Sparks of Henderson, IA, Regina Christenson of Glenwood, IA, Tina Hill and Teresa Gilliam both of Des Moines; 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
