Description	:	Raynold W. Johnson, 84, of Woodward, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016. He was born a child of God on November 27, 1931 on the family farm in rural Ogden, one of seven children of Walter R. Johnson and Ruby (Christopher) Johnson. Raynold attended Marcy township country school and graduated from Ogden High School in 1950. He served in the Army and then worked as a carpenter, becoming a skilled woodworker. Johnson, 84, of Woodward, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016. He was born a child of God on November 27, 1931 on the family farm in rural Ogden, one of seven children of Walter R. Johnson and Ruby (Christopher) Johnson. Raynold attended Marcy township country school and graduated from Ogden High School in 1950. He served in the Army and then worked as a carpenter, becoming a skilled woodworker. He married Kay Andrea Lundahl on February 3, 1957 at Swede Valley Lutheran in Ogden, where they were both nurtured in the faith, family, and service to community that guided and sustained them throughout life. They established their farm West of Woodward in 1959, and he farmed the Johnson family century farm in Ogden, established in 1868. As a steward of the land, he practiced conservation techniques and was named an Iowa Farm Environmental Leader in 2015. He was active in area organizations, including the American Legion, Guthrie County REC Board for 30 years, Dallas County Conservation Board, Dallas County Beef Producers, and Iowa Beef Producers Board. Raynold found great joy in singing and his voice resounded in numerous church, school, and community choirs. This love of song was shared with and passed to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed time with family above all. He was famous in the family for the breakfasts he loved to make, especially Swedish pancakes and waffles. He loved preserving his Swedish and Norwegian heritage through traditional foods, songs, and family stories. He never passed up a chance to sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy a chat with his many friends. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Ruby Johnson, sisters Avenelle Olson and Rosalie Miller, brothers Alan and Marlin Johnson. Survived by wife, Kay; daughters Mary Beth Johnson (Patrick McManus), Christine Schlotfelt, Ruth Anne Symmes (Steve); sons Mark Johnson (Shelene), Brian Johnson (Renae); nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers Myron and Daryl (Carolyn) Johnson; sisters-in-law Jean Johnson, Pat Lundahl, Sharon Alban; many nieces and nephews.
