Description	:	R.D. 'Buck' Bowyer, 73 died Thursday, June 20, 1996 at his home in Wenatchee after an exteneded fight with cancer. He was born Dec. 29, 1922 at Entiat, to John and Mary Belle (Bailey) Bowyer where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Entiat High School in 1941,and then moved to Wenatchee where he worked for Kress' Ten Cent Store. Buck worked at the Bremerton shipyard when he was drafted into the Army and eventually was stationed in the Philippines and several other Pacific Theater ports. He graduated from Entiat High School in 1941,and then moved to Wenatchee where he worked for Kress' Ten Cent Store. He married Bernice Whitehall on Feb. 28,1944, at Wenatchee, where they made their home. Buck joined the Wenatchee City Fire Department and worked for over 26 years as a fireman. In his time between shifts, he and a partner worked painting houses in the Wenatchee area. After his retirement from the Fire Department he continued to paint. Buck and his wife Bernice did a lot of traveling. They went to the Caribbean,Alaska, Hawaii,and Mexico. He loved to travel, fish and spend time with his family and talking about experiences he had in the Army and in the Fire Department. Survivors, include his wife Bernice, of the home;one daughter Carolyn Brown of East Wenatchee,one son David and ( Kay) Bowyer of Entiat; one sister Vivan Nold of Lewiston, Idaho. Three grandchilren, Richelle (Barker) Bowyer, Devin Poff,Niki Poff,two step-grandchildern Timothy Barker, Stacey Barker, and two step greatgrandchildren, Cody and Alex Barker. Buck was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Jones & jones Funeral Directors of Wenatchee are in charge of arrangements.
