Description	:	Mrs. Rebecca Martin passed away at her home here Monday morning, April 27, at 7:10 o'clock. She had been ill with dropsy for several months. Mrs. Martin lived in Marshall County for 56 years, the greater part of the time in this community. She was the mother of a large family and was very devoted to home and children, and was a good neighbor and kind friend. Her death brings to a close a long and useful life. Read More	Mrs. Rebecca Martin passed away at her home here Monday morning, April 27, at 7:10 o'clock. She had been ill with dropsy for several months. Mrs. Martin lived in Marshall County for 56 years, the greater part of the time in this community. She was the mother of a large family and was very devoted to home and children, and was a good neighbor and kind friend. Her death brings to a close a long and useful life. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, from the home at 1:30 and from the Methodist Church at two o'clock. Rev. E. H. Tannehill, of Hope, former pastor of the Beattie Methodist Church gave the funeral sermon. Burial was in the Beattie Union Cemetery. Rebecca Edmundson was born at McKeesport, Pa., August 17, 1857 and died at Beattie, Kansas, April 27, 1936, aged 78 years, eight months and ten days. With her parents she came to a farm south of Home City, in the spring of 1870. On December 15, 1854, she was married to Geo. W. Martin, and to this union eleven children were born, two of whom died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. J. A. Kooser, in 1916, and a son Raymond in 1917. Her husband passed away 27 Apr, 1934, just two years ago to a day from Mrs. Martin's death. She is survived by seven children: Mrs. F. B. Willey, Westmoreland, Kansas; Henry Martin, Vliets, Kans; Mrs. W. B. Cassidy, Monument, Kansas; Mrs. George Boggs, Frankfort, Kansas; Mrs. Eva Lucas, Frankfort, Kansas; Wm. Martin, Beattie, Kansas; and Mrs. Elmer Severin, Beattie,Kansas. Also twenty-six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, Homer B. Edmundson. Mrs. Martin united with the Beattie M. E. Church and remained a faithful member until her death. The Beattie Journal, Beattie, Marshall, Kansas, April 30, 1936, p.1, column 5.
