Gaffney, S.C. - Rebecca Phillips Robbs, 80, of 255 Phillips Farm Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at her residence. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of James Cleveland Robbs and the daughter of the late Lloyd Lyles "Hap" Phillips and Pearl Allison Phillips. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Cecil's Business College. She was formerly employed by Humphries Cotton Gin, Curry's Studio and Magnolias of Gaffney, and was employed by Blakely Funeral Home. Rebecca was active in the Duke Power Retiree's Association, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and was a volunteer with Miracle Hill where she served on the Banquet Committee. She was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church and was active in the Golden Age Club. Surviving are four daughters, Susan Lovingood and husband, Steven, of Gaffney, Judy Bogan and husband, Donnie of Jonesville, Lu Ann Davidson and husband, Eddie of Gaffney and Sally Jackson and husband Reggie of Gaffney; two brothers, Eckols Phillips and wife, Vera, and Joe Phillips and wife, Carolyn, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Millie Sue McCraw and husband, Winfred, and Nancy Vess and husband, Gene, all of Gaffney; twelve grandchildren, Terry Hunt and wife, Kathy, Michael Walker and wife, Amanda, Brandy McBee and husband, David, Tyler Lovingood, Christie Thornton and husband, Brian, Amanda Fore and husband, Lynn, Leslie Ellis and husband, Nathan, Steven Davidson and wife, Holly, Matthew Davidson and wife, Erin, Kim Barnes and husband, Don, David Jackson and Bobby Jackson; sixteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Grassy Pond Baptist Church with Dr. Terry Lanford, Rev. Martin Hogg, Rev. Eric Garner, Mrs. Christie Thornton and Mr. Nathan Ellis officiating. Interment will be in the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Grassy Pond Baptist Church, "Building Fund", 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341 or Bogansville United Methodist Church, 4052 Buffalo - West Springs Highway, Jonesville, S.C. 29353 or Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, 501 Buck Shoals Road, Gaffney, SC 29341 or Goucher Baptist Church, 415 Goucher Creek Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
