The living children are James, of near Prairie City; Press; William; Joseph; John and George, all living near Percy; Hugh, of Nebraska; Mrs. Thomas Kain, of near Fairmount; Mrs. Margaret Elwood and Mrs. Mary Carter, both living in Iowa. She leaves also, forty-seven grandchildren, eighty-one great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. She with her husband and family moved to Marion County in the autumn of 1855. The husband preceded her to the spirit land over fourteen years ago. She was converted when a child and united with the Methodist Church. She with her sainted husband were known over a large area of the country for their Christian character. Both have been crowned, hundreds will rise up and call them blessed. Joseph Cowman, her husband, died September 27, 1891, aged 74 years. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, of which she was a member, by her pastor, Rev. C. W. Proctor, Saturday, March 29. Rebecca Vinzant Cowman died March 23, 1905, aged 85 years, 5 months and 29 days. Interment was made in the Cowman cemetery. He was born in Highland county, Ohio, in 1820. At the age of eighteen, he migrated to Putman (sic) county, Ind. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Vinzant in 1841.
