SAMUEL FLACK Died at the home of her daughter Martha E. Andrew on Monday, March 7, 1910, of old age. Mrs. Samuel Flack in the 84th year of her life. Rebecca Eicher was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, February 9, 1827, and with her parents came to Richland county, Ohio, in 1831. There her girlhood and early womanhood was spent, and there on April 26, 1849 she was united in marriage with Samuel Flack. Mr. and Mrs. Flack came to Marshall county, Indiana, in 1855, remaining there one year, and coming on to Cedar county, Iowa, in 1856. They resided in Cedar, Jones and Linn counties until 1871, when they came to Greene county, which has since been the family home. Twelve children, eight boys and four girls, were born to this union, of which number three sons and two daughters preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are Salathial Flack, Jefferson; Robert N., of Bristol township; Samuel M., of Hardin township; Mrs. M.E. Andrew, Highland township; Alfred T., Bristol, and Susan J. Andrew, of Highland twp. and Richard, of Bristol township. The husband and father died in 1901. In addition to the children named above, Mrs. Flack is survived and mourned by one brother, A.B. Eicher of Jefferson; and by one sister, Mrs. Harriet Wise of Mansfield, Ohio. Shortly after her marriage she joined the Baptist church at Butler, Ohio, and throughout her life was a devout Christian woman. The mother of a large family, all born within a period of twenty-one years after her marriage, she devoted the best years of her life to the duties of the home and lived to realize her highest desire, which was to see all the children grown to manhood and womanhood. A woman of high character, of kindly disposition, of large-hearted hospitality, she leaves, as sincere mourners all those with whom she came in contact during a long and useful life. The funeral servides were held Wednesday from the Baptist church. Rev. Whisler, pastor of the Baptist church at this place had charge of the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Churdan cemetery.
