Mr. Turner was born in Union, December 1, 1952 a son of Betty Jo Moore Turner of the home and the late Reford Charles Turner, Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and Carson Newman College. Mr. Reford Charles Turner, Jr., age 58 of 3025 Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness. Mr. Turner was born in Union, December 1, 1952 a son of Betty Jo Moore Turner of the home and the late Reford Charles Turner, Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and Carson Newman College. Mr. Turner was employed with the S.C. Dept. Of Corrections - Tyger River Facility for over 32 years. He was a devoted member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. Mr. Turner was also a retired Colonel with the U.S. Army Reserves and a member of Victory Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother are a granddaughter reared in the home, Kaylee Woody; a daughter: Chrissy Turner-Woody of Columbia and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Victory Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jackie Carrigan and Rev. John Smith. Burial will be in Brown's Creek Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be Billy Grady, Carlton Chastain, Ben Ivey, Billy Morris, Tim Harrison, Dale Neal and Freddie Crawford. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R.
