Description	:	Regina Kathryn "Kate" Kelly, 88, longtime Leavenworth resident, died Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 1996, in the Cascade Medical Center. She was born Regina Kathryn Burns on Jan. 27, 1908, to John W. and Mary (O'Connor) Burns at Miller, S.D. When she was just six weeks old, her family moved to Leavenworth. Read More	Regina Kathryn "Kate" Kelly, 88, longtime Leavenworth resident, died Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 1996, in the Cascade Medical Center. She was born Regina Kathryn Burns on Jan. 27, 1908, to John W. and Mary (O'Connor) Burns at Miller, S.D. When she was just six weeks old, her family moved to Leavenworth. They returned to South Dakota during World War I to help with efforts to raise food. When they returned to Leavenworth after the war, the family settled on Mountain Home. Kate graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1928. She married Guy Kelly at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Leavenworth on June 27, 1929. They lived there until 1941 when they moved to Seattle. While living in Seattle, Mrs. Kelly was active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Queen Anne and was a member of the Lorraine Chapter of the Young Ladies Institute. In 1984 the Kellys retired to their home on Icicle Creek in Leavenworth. Mrs. Kelly was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Leavenworth. She loved to cook for her family and she canned every summer. She was lucky at bingo and liked to watch the Sonics and the Mariners. She was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Guy, of the family home; her three children, Brian Kelly and Eileen Kelly, both of Leavenworth, and Mary Kay Byrnes of Lopez Island; two brothers, Patrick Burns of Seattle and Robert Burns of Mesa, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard; her brothers, Charles, Clare, Leo and Ted; and a sister, Margaret. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
