Description	:	Reginald L. Ford of 712 Phelps, a Logan County resident for over 70 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1989,at his home. He was 72. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Chaney Walters Funeral Home, the Rev. Martha Jean Fitch officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Ford family homesteaded eight miles north of Iliff in 1910 and Mr. Ford was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Iliff, the son of Arlie F. and Estella M. Ridlen Ford. The Ford family homesteaded eight miles north of Iliff in 1910 and Mr. Ford was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Iliff, the son of Arlie F. and Estella M. Ridlen Ford. He attended a country school, except for one year when he attended Iliff school, farmed near Iliff for several years before going to work at Pat Merrell's Repair Shop in Sterling for 16 years, then worked for the City of Sterling Parks Department for a short time. He served as Logan County Deputy Sheriff for 15 years, retiring in 1979. He was head jailer, server of legal papers and radio dispatcher and attended LaSalle University extension police officers law course, various law officers seminars, FBI classes at Boulder. Mr. Ford was a charter member of the Logan County Sheriff's Posse and active in their projects for 25 years. He owned and operated the R.L's. Gun Sales and Service shop and was a prominent area gunsmith until his retirement. He married Daisy Lee, May 3, 1946, in Denver. Mr. Ford was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, a 25-year member of the Northeastern Colorado Peace Officers Association, the Sterling B.P.O.Elks Lodge No. 1336, Game and Fish Club of Northeast Colora do, Sterling Rifle Club and American Sportsman Club Inc. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Ford of Sterling; two sons, Charles Ford of Sterling and Tim Lewis of Houston, Texas, and two grandchild.
