Read More	Reinhard Herman Diedrich Mundt (1907 - 1995) Reinhard Herman Diedrich Mundt was born on a farm in Nishnabotna Township near Denison, Iowa November 12, 1907, the son of William Diedrich and Anna Lochmiller Mundt. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism January 11, 1908 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed in his Christian Faith there March 25, 1923. He was raised on the farm where he received his early education in the rural schools and finished his education attending night classes in Denison. On March 24, 1930, Reiney was united in marriage with Anna Rose "Dolly" Mundt at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They made their home on the farm south of Denison where their union was blessed with two sons, James Barry and Michael Reinhard. In 1945 they moved to Denison and Reiney continued to farm. In addition to his farming career Reiney was active in projects to improve Denison. He was instrumental in starting Crawford County Meat Packer, now known as Farmland, helped start IBP and was their first President of the Board continuing to serve on the board until they were purchased by Occidental Petroleum. He served on the Norwest Bank Board of Directors from 1952 until 1979. In later years the Mundt's enjoyed spending the winters at their Scottsdale, Arizona home. Dolly died May 1984 and Reiney continued to reside in Denison. On March 14, 1985, Reiney was united in marriage with Anna Jane Hunter Hutcheson at Scottsdale, Arizona. They made their home in Denison spending the winters in Scottsdale. Reiney enjoyed meeting people and maintaining old and new friendships, especially enjoying his card club. Although R. H. held many titles in life, the one he cherished most was farmer. He passed by many business opportunities which would have required leaving his beloved land. He was active in farming almost until the end of his life. Reiney died Wednesday morning, November 8, 1995 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 87 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Including his parents and his first wife, Dolly, Reiney was preceded in death by one brother, Barney Mundt. Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane Mundt of Denison, two sons, James Barry Mundt and wife, Jacqueline of Denison, Michael Reinhard Mundt and wife, Lori of Denison, two stepsons, Paul Hutcheson and wife, Julie of Des Moines, Iowa, and Tom Hutcheson of LaQuinta, California, eight grandchildren, Kelly Mundt and husband, Craig Bjorklund of Chicago, Illinois, Lisa Mundt of Manhattan Beach, California, W. Dan Mundt and wife Ann of Ames, Iowa, Angelique Mundt of Chicago, Illinois, Laura Mundt and husband, Jeff Patterson of Coralville, Iowa, Adrian Mundt of Omaha, Nebraska, Danae and husband Thomas Schuster of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Madeleine Mundt of Seattle, Washington, six step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Lula Lenz of Denison, one niece, Lois and husband Patrick Houston of Denison, one nephew, Bob Mundt and wife Sally of Broomfield, Colorado, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 1995 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. Philip E. Bloch officiating. Music for the service was provided by Brad Roos singing "The Lord's Prayer" and "Amazing Grace" and the congregation singing "Beautiful Savior". Martha Bloch was organist. Honorary bearers were Ralph Borcherding, Robert Glau, James F. Leinen, Patrick L. Houston, Earl Keim, Fred Lanz, Ralph Marten, William Q. Norelius, E.A. Raun and W.F. Morrison, Reiney's grandchildren, Kelly Mundt, Lisa Mundt, W. Dan Mundt, Angelique Mundt, Laura Mundt Patterson, Adrian Mundt, Danae Mundt Schuster and Madeleine Mundt served as casket bearers. Interment was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. A prayer service was held at 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home with Dr. Edward R. Peterson officiating.
