Description	:	Reinhard "Reiny" Fergin, 81, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday May 30, 2014, at the Columbus Community Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 1:30 PM at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus with Rev. Chris McArdle officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's United Church of Christ. Reiny was born January 23, 1933, in Janovka, Poland, to Leonard and Natalie (Trotnov) Fergin. He grew up and was educated in Germany. He continued his education by going to Trade School in Erlangen, Germany. Reiny came to the United States on March 23, 1952. He was employed at Henke Machine. Reiny served in the United States Army from September 29, 1953, until his honorable discharge on September 29, 1955. He then returned to work at Henke Machine until retiring in 1998. Reiny married Jean Blaser on October 11, 1958, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, pheasant hunting, gardening, playing cards, and tinkering in the garage with his tools creating things he could use. He was a member of St. Luke's where he served as a greeter, usher, and served on the Church Council. Reiny is survived by: Wife – Jean Fergin of Columbus, NE Daughter – Jolaine (Carl) Edwards of Columbus, NE Daughter – Julie (Mark) Neil of Columbus, NE Grandchildren – Derek (fiancée Ann Lawrentz) Edwards of Omaha, NE; Jonas Neil of Omaha, NE; Forrest Edwards of Omaha, NE; Kelsy Neil of Omaha, NE Brother – Withold Fergin of Shelby, NE Brother – Hugo Fergin of Columbus, NE Sister – Alice (Melvin) Ernst of Columbus, NE Half Sister-in-law – Herta Fergin of Germany Nieces and Nephews Reiny was preceded in death by: Parents – Leonard and Natalie Fergin Sister – Tabea Ferin Half Sisters – Emma (Fergin) Vetick, and Erna Fergin Half Brothers – Ferdinand Fergin and Herbert Fergin Gass Haney Funeral Home
