Description	:	Reinhold Christian Pillar, the son of Reinhold E. and Minna Pillar, was born in David City, Nebras-ka, April 19, 1887. In 1898 the family moved to Millerton, Nebraska, and Reinhold, a lad of eleven years, completed his education in the Millerton School. Read More	Reinhold Christian Pillar, the son of Reinhold E. and Minna Pillar, was born in David City, Nebras-ka, April 19, 1887. In 1898 the family moved to Millerton, Nebraska, and Reinhold, a lad of eleven years, completed his education in the Millerton School. Sometime during the early years of his life he was nicknamed "Sonny" and the title stuck. Many of us never knew him by any other name. When he completed his education, he went into the store business with his father and continued to work in the Millerton Store until 1928, at which time he took over the business. On August 8, 1909, Sonny married Estella Bonawitz to which union four children were born: Glen, Clair, Estella May and one child that passed away in infancy. In the fall of 1937 Sonny and his family moved their store to Garrison, Nebraska where he was in active business up until the time of his death. On Sunday, February 13 he was stricken with a paralytic stroke, and two days later quietly slipped away to his creator, at the age of fifty years, nine months, and twenty-six days. He is also preceded in death by his mother, who died in 1928. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife Estella; three children, Glen, Clair and Estella May; his father, Reinhold E. Piller of Millerton; three brothers, Adolph of Lincoln, William of Chappel, Ekkehart of Millerton; three sisters, Frieda of Rising City, Melanie of Gothenburg, and Minnie of Surprise; and many, many friends and neighbors who shall always remember him as Sonny, a nickname that truly described his disposition. Funeral services were held at the Garrison M.E. church Friday afternoon, February 18, conducted by Rev. D. J. Schuyleman. "Face to Face,", "Abide With Me," were sung by Mr. Wesley Glock, Mr. Joe Stuebing, Mrs. Carl Jaenike and Mrs. Ray Marquis, with Miss Florance Cornue at the piano. Pall bearers were James McElravy, John Fadschild, Claud Raitt, Fred Dollison, Ed. Winkleman and A. J. Sweeney. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Relatives here from away to attend the funderal were, Mrs. Pillers sisters, Mrs. Melvina Fowers of Superior, Mrs. Mabel From, Venango, W.F. Piller, Chappell; Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Plank, Gothenburg; Mr. and Mrs. Neujahr, Surprise; Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Piller and family of Lincoln; Dr. R. A. Piller and family of Ulysses; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hoeft and family of Rising City; Rev. A. Doman and son Ervin of Nebraska City and many other friends. The symphathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved.
