Description	:	Reinhold "Riney" Buerkle, 89, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at his home. The son of Adam and Ottilla Buerkle, Riney was born April 18, 1915, in Fredonia, ND. Read More	Reinhold "Riney" Buerkle, 89, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at his home. The son of Adam and Ottilla Buerkle, Riney was born April 18, 1915, in Fredonia, ND. In 1933, the family moved to the Huntley Project. The Buerkles farmed west of Billings, near Grand and 19th, for many years. Riney met Esther Gabel at Shorty Slusher's home in 1939. They began dating and were married Jan. 12, 1941. They farmed in the Billings area until Riney entered the Army in 1945, where he served as a Medic until his discharge in 1946. In 1948, he went to work for Elk River Concrete Company. Riney was employed by Elk River for 35 years, retiring Aug. 1, 1981. After retirement, he would help Esther with her daycare business. He was especially fond of taking care of and spending time with his grandchildren. He would take them to school each morning and had taught each of them to play solitaire, a game he loved. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, visiting with family and friends, and working in his yard and roses. He was a member of the Laborers Local, American Legion, and Pilgram Congregational Church. Survivors include his son, Gary, and his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Beverly Harris, and her husband, Dennie; granddaughters, Kimberly and Shelly Harris; and grandson Brandon Buerkle. He is also survived by his sisters, Elda Wittman, Ruth Job, and Lee Lemaick; and brothers, Roland and Kenny. Riney was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, Jan. 8, 1996; his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, Jan. 14, at Pilgram Congregational Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Pilgram Congregational Church or the Northern Rockies Cancer Center.
