JOSEPH'S Was Known Farmer and Stockman Was Nearing His Eightieth Birthday; Was Well Known Remembrance Hughes Curl, who would have been 8O years of age July 20, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 6 p. m. Friday following ill health over a considerable period of time and critical illness during the past three months. Mr. Curl, a well known farmer of this county came to Appanoose in 1902 from Clarke county, Iowa. Prior to his residence in Clarke county he had spent his boyhood and early young manhood in Washington county. A farmer and cattle buyer and shipper of more than ordinary ability Mr. Curl was at one time a large landholder and had three farms in this vicinity. His residence was on what is known as the Earl Wallace farm three and a quarter miles southwest of Cincinnati. Retires From Farm. Mr. Curl had retired some 10 years ago and made his home, following his wife's death with his three sons here. Prior to his death he had made his home with his son J o h n on East Clark street. In death Mr. Curl is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Eddy, and by three sons, Walter, living east of Udell, Hugh, living east of Centerville and John. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Hudson, of Cincinnati, Mrs. Libby Rice, of Humeston and Mrs. Rachel Fritz, of Wellman and one brother, William,also of Wellman. Mr. Curl had a wide acquaintance and a host of friends all of whom, mourn his death . He was a member of the Methodist Church, a kind father and good friend. Funeral services will be held from the Beckner funeral home Sundav at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. H. E. Trimble officiating and burial will be in Highland cemetery at Cincinnati. ~~ Obit above states Highland but he was interred in Pleasant Hill.
