Heeren was called to the Great Beyond at her home in Wayne township last Tuesday night August 2S, at 11 o'clock. She had been in failing health during the past four years with a severe case of heart trouble, which Included the hardening of the arteries. During the last eleven weeks of her life she was bed fast, and under the cave of a trained nurse for the last six weeks. Mrs. Heeren was a daughter of Henry and Margaret Monk, and her maiden name was Mary Monk. She was born in the town of Marx, Ostfriesland, Germany, December 3, 1877. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith while still a resident of Germany. She emigrated to the United States with her parents when she was four years of age. The Monk family settled on a farm in Scotch Grove township and later removed to the Delaware countv line, where Mr. Monk operated the E. G. Hicks farm. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Heeren occurred at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, January 19, 1898, and was performed by Rev. Fred Von Strobe. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Heeren went to housekeeping on the Heeren farm In Wayne township, where their home has since been made, with the exception of nine months spent on a farm near Platte, South Dakota in 1900. The Heeren home was blessed with the birth of four children, viz: Emma (Mrs. Henry Bartels) of Scotch Grove; Louis, a farmer in Wayne township, and Albert and Lawrence who live at home. In addition to these children, she also is survived by two grandchildren, Lucile and Eleanor Bartels. Mrs. Heeren Is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, who are Diedrick Monk, Mrs. Henry G. Prull and Henry Monk of Lovell township, George Monk of Castle Grove Grove township, and Mrs. John Reuter of Scotch Grove township. Mrs. Heeren was confirmed at St. John's church in her early youth and was a faithful member of that church and of the Ladies' Aid society. Her funeral will be held at the family home tomorrow afternoon, and further services at St. John's church at 2 p.m. Rev. Paul T. Gutknecht will have charge of both services, and burial will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. The pallbearers at the funeral will all be nephews of Mrs. Heeren.
