Description	:	Reuben Davenport is my Great, Great, Grandfather, he was the son of Edmond Davenport, Sr. and ( Mothers first name unknown ) Galloway. He was one of eight children, born to this family. Reuben was born in 1798 in Pitt County, North Carolina, he became a land owner in Wilson County, Tennessee in the 1820's. In 1835 he sold some, if not all, of his land in Wilson County, Tennessee and moved to Warren County, Tennessee. He is listed in the 1840 and 1850 censuses in Warren County. Read More	Reuben Davenport is my Great, Great, Grandfather, he was the son of Edmond Davenport, Sr. and ( Mothers first name unknown ) Galloway. He was one of eight children, born to this family. Reuben was born in 1798 in Pitt County, North Carolina, he became a land owner in Wilson County, Tennessee in the 1820's. In 1835 he sold some, if not all, of his land in Wilson County, Tennessee and moved to Warren County, Tennessee. He is listed in the 1840 and 1850 censuses in Warren County. Some time in the 1850's he moved back to Cannon County, Tennessee and died after 1861 in Cannon County, Tennessee. His granddaughter, Tiney Bell Davenport Caldwell said that Reuben was buried in Blue Wing Cemetery, in Cannon County. There is no tombstone. Reuben was married three times, Wife 1, Susan Richardson, Wife 2, Ruth Sauls and Wife 3, to Sarah (Sallie) Mathews, she is my Great, Great, Grandmother. I'm told by Sallie's Grandson, my Grandfather, Robert H. Davenport that she was a "Full Blood" Cherokee from Sequatchee Valley, Tennessee. He told the family how that when he was a young boy sitting with Grandmother Sallie on the front porch of their home, his school friends were passing by his house along with their parents, and not one of his young friends waved or called hello to him. The reason for this he said was because, he remembered over hearing one of the parents tell the children not to speak to him, because his Grandmother Sallie was a Cherokee Indian. Great, Great Grandfather Reuben fathered over 16 children over a 27 year period. He descends this way: Richard Davenport Sr., Isaac Davenport, George Davenport, Edmond Davenport, Sr., Reuben Davenport.
