Description	:	Reuben was the son of Reuben McFarland and Lucy Smith. In the 1850 Northumberland census he was living with a Jane McFarland, age 21, born in VT and a William Bothwell, age 75, born in MA. It appears that they were married and possibly William was her father. I can find nothing on these two people. (Also, that name could actually be Bothell, Bothwell, or Boutwell). Their children Lovina and Charles were born in New York in 1862 and 1864-65. By 1870 they were back in the Stark census. A death record can't be found for Reuben, but Lucy was listed as widowed in her next marriage. Reuben was last seen in the 1880 Stark census. I think he may have died around 1883. A newspaper article on daughter Carrie (Flossie LaBlanche - circus performer) said that in 1883 her circumstances changed & she had to go to work. I believe that was the death of her father. Her mother remarried in 1890. There isn't a headstone here for Reuben, and there may not have been one here for his wife, Lucy, until possibly when daughter Bertha's husband Frank Hall died.
