Description	:	Reuben S. Jessen, 85, former police chief of Kenmare and Ward County deputy sheriff, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1991 in a Minot hospital. Read More	Reuben S. Jessen, 85, former police chief of Kenmare and Ward County deputy sheriff, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1991 in a Minot hospital. His funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in Nazareth Lutheran church, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, both of Kenmare. He was born Sept. 18, 1906 in Canada, a son of Soren and Anna Jessen. At an early age, he came with his family to the Niobe area where they farmed. He was reared and educated there, and on June 22, 1926, he married Christine Neve at Minot. They lived and farmed at Niobe until moving to Kenmare in 1940. He was chief of police at Kenmare, serving at the same time as a deputy sheriff for Ward County, for over 25 years, from 1946 until July 1, 1972. At the time of his retirement, the Kenmare Association of Commerce honored him in a special tribute. His wife died May 14, 1976. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. Surviving are five sons, Ted of Sentinal Butte, Darold of Minot, Jim of El Paso, Texas, LaVern and Bruce of Dickinson; daughter, Allene Halabuk of Ramona, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister, Alice Mae Huber of Bismarck; stepdaughters Joyce O'Brian of Sumner, Wash., Wanda Lynch of Everett; three step-grandchildren, several aunts, one uncle, and a host of other relatives and friends.
