Description	:	Reuben Wood was a son of John Wood and his second wife, Sibbel (Wilborn) Wood. Although frequently shown as being born in 1750, the 1800 census indicates Reuben Wood was under 45 years of age at the time of the enumeration. Reuben Wood served in the Randolph County militia as lieutenant to Captain Thomas Clark. He served as a delegate (with his elder half-brother, Zebedee Wood) to the North Carolina Constitutional Conventions of 1788 and 1789. Read More	Reuben Wood was a son of John Wood and his second wife, Sibbel (Wilborn) Wood. Although frequently shown as being born in 1750, the 1800 census indicates Reuben Wood was under 45 years of age at the time of the enumeration. Reuben Wood served in the Randolph County militia as lieutenant to Captain Thomas Clark. He served as a delegate (with his elder half-brother, Zebedee Wood) to the North Carolina Constitutional Conventions of 1788 and 1789. He was present at the Convention at which North Carolina approved the United States Constitution. Reuben Wood was a prominent trial lawyer and served as State's Attorney in Randolph, Burke and Buncombe Counties, NC. He served as a representative from Randolph County to the NC General Assembly in 1791. Reuben Wood was married 18 Nov 1779 to Charity Hayne/Hinds and they had the following children: i. Sarah "Sally" Wood; m. 1802 to Augustine Willis. ii. John L. Wood iii. Mary Wood (died 1834); m. 21 Dec 1805 to Joseph Wilson iv. Joseph Wood v. Alfred Wood vi. Edwin Wood (1794-1814) vii. Evelina Wood; m. Augustine Willis (following the death of her sister, Sarah) viii. Laura Wood (died 25 Mar 1835); m. 23 May 1818 to Jethro Starbuck Wilson (brother of Joseph Wilson who married her sister Mary).
