There is a book, "The Life and Travels of Abel Turner, Minister of the Gospel--Written by himself, Written for his Wife, dated 1839-----------"His father, Abel Turner, it said, was born in Pembroke, Mass, a descendent of John Turner, one who came over with the Pilgrims. He moved to Foxtrot, ME, among the early pioneers, where the last two of his eight children, Adam B., ca 1817, and Betty B, late 1818, were born. Eld. Abel Turner heard of Baptist meetings in the area when a young man, went to hear, and began his life as a FreeWill Baptist, rejecting his Calvinistic upbringing. He was ordained at age 21 yrs, in about 1832. His ministry was in Maine, Vermont, and Western New York. He lived out his life as a FWB preacher in Chester, Penobscot Co. ME."
