HOLLIFIELD The End Came At Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte Last Friday Rev. A. P. Hollifield, a Baptist minister and a native of Rutherford county, died at the Presbyterian Hospital Friday morning at 3 o'clock, after an illness of three weeks. Intestinal obstruction was the cause of death. Mr. Hollifield was brought to Charlotte last Wednesday from his home at Bostic, Rutherford county. He was accompanied by his brother, Mr. Issac Hollifield, and his physician, Dr. W. C. Bostic, of Forest City. An examination was made yesterday morning and it was decided that an operation should be performed. While there was scant hope of any relief, the patient was perfectly willing to take the chances, for there was no hope for him unless the obstruction could be removed. The operation was performed and temporary relief was afforded. But the disease had progressed so far that a relapse followed the operation and death came at the hour named. Mr. Hollifield was pastor of four churches in Cleveland and Rutherford counties. These were Big Springs and Sandy Plains in Rutherford and Mt. Pleasant and Pleasant Grove in Cleveland. He was of the Missionary Baptist faith and greatly beloved by the congregations he so faithfully served. The deceased was 54 years old and is survived by a wife and two sons, Messrs. W. B. Hollifield and F. L. Hollifield, both of whom live in Bostic. The remains were shipped to Rutherfordton and from there they will be taken to Concord church in Rutherford county, where the funeral and interment will take place.
