Description	:	Prof. August Schuelke, son of August Schuelke and his wife Henriette nee Kraatz, was born May 7, 1866 in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario, Canada. In 1869 his parents moved to Chicago, Illinois. Here the deceased attended the Christian Day School of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. After his confirmation his pastor, the Rev. Henry Succop, D. D., induced him to enter Concordia College at Ft. Wayne, Ind., and in 1885 the Theological Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Mo., to prepare for the ministry. Read More	Prof. August Schuelke, son of August Schuelke and his wife Henriette nee Kraatz, was born May 7, 1866 in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario, Canada. In 1869 his parents moved to Chicago, Illinois. Here the deceased attended the Christian Day School of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. After his confirmation his pastor, the Rev. Henry Succop, D. D., induced him to enter Concordia College at Ft. Wayne, Ind., and in 1885 the Theological Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Mo., to prepare for the ministry. After his graduation in 1888 he served as Assistant Professor and Inspector for two years at his alma mater at Ft. Wayne, Ind. On July 20, 1890 he was ordained as pastor of the Lutheran church at Crown Point, Ind. After a very successful pastorate of sixteen years at this place he was persuaded to accept a call as professor at Concordia Teacher's College at Seward, and was inducted into his office October 8, 1906. Here he has served very efficiently up to the last moment of his life. Since 1915 he also served the former Nebraska District, and after the division of the same, the Southern Nebraska District of the Missouri Synod as treasurer in a very able manner until he was called away. In the year 1890 he entered matrimony with Miss Marie Lerch at Ft. Wayne, Indiana. To this very happy union were born four children who all survive the father. The deceased was called away suddenly at the close of his day's work Monday, March 21, 1932, uttering as his last words, "Jesus Savior," at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 14 days. He leaves his bereaved widow and four children: Mrs. Emma Condos, Sterling, Colo., Rev. Enno Schuelke, Millerton, Nebr., Mrs. Paula Wolter, Seward, Nebr., Mrs. Margaret Hellwege, Seward, Nebr.; and six grandchildren besides other relatives and friends. After a short service in the home funeral services were held in St. John's church Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Seward, Nebr. --Blue Valley Blade, Seward, NE, Thurs, March 31, 1932
