Description	:	Rev. Benjamin C. Wiebkie was baptized Sept. 24, 1893 at Helena Lutheran Church, Cook, NE. and confimred April 12, 1908 same church. His parents were Fredrich and Wilhelmina (Beckman) Wiebke. He served in the U.S. Army in WWI.spending nine months in France, serving on two fronts. After discharge in 1919, he returned to Lincoln, NE. to be a mail carrier. later moving to Cook for a rural mail route. He entered Wartburg College at Waverly, IA. in 1921, graduating in 1924. Then attended Wartburg Theological Seminary at Dubuque, IA. finishing in 1927. In June of that year he was ordained at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. He married to Irma Nolting on June 14, 1927, they served in parishes at Lodgepole, Auburn, and DeWitt, Ne. He served as a director of Martin Luther Home at Sterling, NE. and Beatrice, NE. for many years and was interim superintendent for a time. Mrs. Wiebke died in 1938. July 23, 1940, Rev. Wiebke was married to Lila Rohrs of Auburn, NE. He retired in 1963 and returned to Waverly, IA. Then for a number of years served as chaplain at Bartels Home, and was visitation pastor of St. John's in Charles City for 13 years. He suffered a chronic leukemia condition for many years. Survivors were his wife, Lila, a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Zelle of Waverly, IA. 2 sons, Vernon of Nebraska City, Ne. Ben F. of Rochester, MN. three sisters, Mrs. L.H. Mohning of LeMarrs, IA. Mrs. Emil Johns of Cook, Ne. and Mrs. Eleanor Bish of Cook, Ne. two brothers, George of Remsen, IA. and Hnry of Omaha, Ne. nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 11, 1982 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. where he was a member, with burial in Harlington Cemetery in that city.
