On March 25, 1875, he was united in marriage to Catharine Risser and located on a farm in Livingston County, Ill. To this union ten children, six daughters and four sons, were born: Edward A. of Flanagan, Ill.; Emil W. of Washington, Ill.; John F. of Aurora; Mrs. Christian Stauffer and Mrs. Dave Bender of Milford, Nebr.; Mrs. Ben Kremer and Joseph A. of Aurora; Mrs. Joseph Rocke of Gridley, Ill.; Mrs. John Roszhart of Meadows, Ill. and Mrs. Raymond Scherz of Washington, Ill.; all of the children are living. He with his family lived on a farm in Livingston County, Ill.until December 1885, when he moved to Hamilton County, Nebr.about six miles southwest of Aurora. Here he resided until 1908 when the family moved to Aurora locating on 12 and G Street where he lived until the death of his wife in Nov. 1919. He then moved to the home of his son, John and family, who tenderly ministered to his needs until he passed to his reward. Rev. Rediger was one of the pioneers that broke virgin soil, faced hard struggles in building his home and community life. At the age of 14 he accepted Christ and became a member of the Mennonite church which he served faithfully. In 1878 he was ordained to the office of the ministry. He organized the Flanagan Mennonite church and served that church until he moved to Nebraska. In 1885 he was ordained to the office of Elder. He organized the Pleasant View Church and faithfully ministered to its needs until his retirement from services. In the last few years, he, feeling that his work was finished longed for his departure from this life to be with his Lord whom he served, which desire he frequently expressed and after two months of suffering, on October 16 God granted the desire which he so much longed for. Besides his sons and daughters he leaves 26 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the United Brethren Church with Rev. Emmanuel Troyer. Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased.
