Description	:	Rev. Clarence W. Stangohr, 82, formerly of 1427 St. Clair Avenue, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2002, at the Greendale Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 26, 1919, in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota, Clarence was a son of the late Mary Stangohr. Stangohr, 82, formerly of 1427 St. Clair Avenue, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2002, at the Greendale Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 26, 1919, in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota, Clarence was a son of the late Mary Stangohr. After graduation from High School, he went on to serve his country in the European Theater during W.W.II in the U.S. Army, Medical Administration Corp. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Shaef with Battle Star, and the Victory Medal. Clarence attended St. John's University (Benedictine); the Saint Cloud Teachers College; University of Minnesota Graduate School; Saint Ambrose College (Diocesan Suplican); Aquina Institute (Dominican); Mount Saint Bernard's Seminary (Dominican); and Concordia Seminary (LCMS). He was a Pastor for over 33 years, most recently at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, until he retired on August 27, 1989. Prior to his ministry, he also worked as a farm laborer, and for the Army Overhead of the Civilian Conservation Corp., Morrell Packing Plant; railroad construction for the Ordinance Department and the Defense Department. While a young man, he was the President of the Walther League of St. John's Lutheran Church in Howard, Miner, South Dakota. He was a member of the Democratic Party, a Boy Scout Counselor, the St. John's University Alumni Association, the Concordia Seminary Sustainer, People to People, several wildlife and conservation organizations, and Amnesty International. A Memorial service for Rev. Clarence W. Stangohr will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave. The Rev. Timothy Mech will officiate. Interment will take place in Canova Cemetery in Canova, SD. A memorial fund has been established in his name for Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, and St. John Lutheran Church in Howard, Miner, South Dakota. The Lippert-Olson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements."
