Pastor Doerr was born July 10, 1936, at Creighton, Nebraska, to George Heinrich and Hattie L. (Machmueller) Doerr. Pastor Doerr was born July 10, 1936, at Creighton, Nebraska, to George Heinrich and Hattie L. (Machmueller) Doerr. He was baptized July 26, 1936, and confirmed April 2, 1950, at Golgatha Lutheran Church in Wausa, Nebraska. He attended high schools at Concordia in Seward, Nebraska, and St. Johns in Winfield, Kansas. After graduating from high school at Winfield, he returned to attend college at Concordia in Seward. While there, he was united in marriage to Luanne Mary Horst on August 11, 1957. After graduating from Concordia, he taught and was principal at Zion Lutheran School in Fairmont, Oklahoma, for seven years. Dale also had earned a master’s degree in education administration from Oklahoma State University. He then started to prepare for the ministry at Fort Wayne Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. Three years later, in 1969, he was ordained as a minister to do his Lord’s work at his home church, Golgatha Lutheran in Wausa. His first call was to the dual parish at Burlington and Aliceville in Kansas. He was installed into the ministry at Aliceville, and served the dual parishes from 1969 to 1971. He was then called to the parish at Superior, Nebraska, and served there from 1972 to 1976. In 1976, he returned to Burlington and served there until 1998. His last call was to the church in Iola, Kansas, serving there from 1988 to 1998. He retired in 1998, but served many years ministering in congregations at Caney, Parsons and Oswego, Kansas. His biggest joy was speaking for his Lord, as he did the day before he was hospitalized. After retirement, he started his Cross Ministry, making thousands of Passion Crosses, which he gave – along with the Gospel message – to many people in our country as well as many other nations. Survivors include his wife Luanne and son Darwin; a brother, Gene Doerr and wife Jeanine of Hollister, Missouri; sisters Eileen Jensen of Creighton, Nebraska, and Helen Thompson of Kirbyville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Doerr, of Creighton; other relatives and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, his parents, a sister Alice, and a brother, Martin Doerr. It can truly be said of Pastor Doerr – Rev. 14:13 – “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours, and their works do follow them.” The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 27, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery.
